New Bread Shop
By Linda Leitch
Pekara Bread has the best bread, rolls and danishes to please the eyes and the tummy. Pekara Bread is new to the Soulard Market.
I have had the Rosemary and Olive bread and the Walnut and Blue cheese bread too. They are so good it was hard to stop eating them.
The Rosemary and Olive bread is a great way to dress up a stew dinner.
I loved the Walnut bread with butter on it.
The pastries are divine. All the ones I have tried so far are so good I feel they are calling my name every time I walk by. The best part is that they are not overly sweet, which I like.
Pekara Bread is where the Black Bear Bakery once was in stand # 88B and 89
I asked Robb, the owner, why he chose Soulard Market to sell his bread. Robb told me that he used to live at the Soulard Market Apartments and would shop at the market every week. Robb fell in love with the the Soulard Market so when the space became available he leased it. He also said that he loves to see all the people from different walks of life at the market and the history
of the Soulard area is something else he loves too.
The hand apple pie which is the size of my hand is divine. The crust melts in your mouth.
If you would like a taste of old world breads, Pekara Bread makes some German bread and Sour Dough breads too. Why not stop by and check them out?
